Ted, Did you ever see the movie the Joy Luck Club? I think I've asked you before but I can't remember your response........your comments above remind me of that movie.

Yep, saw it in the theaters and on video. A very good reflection of Asian-American culture, though most of my friends' parents did not nearly have the dramatic stories that the mothers in the movie did.


Funny, it was about Asian women primarily but it could have been about anyone of any gender or race. I was going through a very bad time when I saw the movie and it was a cathartic experience for me. It really woke me to the notion of how we frequently misunderstand the intentions of others esp. as they pertain to us and how we often confuse the message our parents are trying to get across to us.
