Kind of explains your philosophy then doesn't it. I think you might be more conciliatory if your ancestors were from say China or Japan.....those folks have a very tough time learning English. Americans have an equally tough time learning an Asian tongue. I attended an Elderhostel a few years ago run by our Foreign Service. Among the things we learned was that Foreign service people take a crash 6 month course in all foreign languages when going on assignment. The only exception is for Chinese...then they study for 1-3 years...
