Glencore Buys Asarco's Idled Tennessee Zinc Mines, Platts Says
2006-05-23 05:31 (New York)

By Simon Casey
May 23 (Bloomberg) -- Glencore International AG bought
idled zinc mines in Tennessee from Asarco LLC, Platts reported
yesterday on its Web site, citing documents from the U.S.
Bankruptcy Court of the Southern District of Texas.
Glencore, a closely held commodity trader based in Baar,
Switzerland, is the world's fourth-largest zinc miner. It owns
mines in Peru and Kazakhstan that produce the dark gray metal,
which is mostly used to galvanize steel.
