Tim, apples and oranges have more in common than the price of movie tickets and gasoline. I drive every day. I buy a movie ticket only a few times a year. But at $7 a gallon I'll be doing a lot less of either.

My thinking is that the market is signaling an economic slowdown ahead. If that is accurate then gas prices will fall as demand does. Movie tickets will remain over priced but we already have seen the box office struggling for years.

I'm a big believer in 4 year Presidential or Election Year cycles. The last two long term market bottoms were October 1998 and October 2002. Why would anyone be surprised by a great buying opportunity in October 2006. With the exception of a couple of times since 1950 we have got a tremendous market buying opportunity almost like clockwork every four years.

Keep some powder dry.
