I don't doubt that are bubble has a stupid side to it -- no question about it. But it was not the smartest thing in the world for the Japanese to bankrupt their entire banking system and private sector either -- 17 years of stagnation has been a steep price indeed. In the US the dollar will simply be debased, the assets marked to market, a few people will no doubt go to jail (always part of the process in America) and then life will go on. The REAL bubble to watch out for is the dollar -- housing is just a distraction compared to the implications of the dollar bubble.
