Ken .. I've not had heartburn at all with Chiavettas. It has some kind of Vinegar, Black Pepper, Garlic and Secret Spices it's not like a Traditional BBQ Sauce. The Vinegar helps break down any Fat .. and does a Pre Cook or Pickling on the Meat. Let's put it this way .. we have 2 Half Gallons of it here to last till we get back to Buffalo again in a month or 2. lol This place on Put-In-Bay says they use a wine marinade or baste .. but it tastes like Chiavettas to me.
