It's a very bad precident.

That wasn't convincing.

I would think that it would be a bad precedent to establish that the government offices of Congress are some sort of a criminal safety zone. I don't even see an argument that an office represents a separation of powers issue.

Give me an argument why it's a bad precedent.

Some Republicans agree with you. I think they have visions of the FBI rading their Congressional offices if the Dems win the Presidency and get control of the FBI.

I don't have a problem with it in this case. Allegedly, Jefferson accepted marked money in a videotaped sting - evidence doesn't get much more conclusive. Public officials that take bribes are the lowest form of criminal to me. Special "enhanced" sentencing should be drafted, just for them.

You do have to wonder if the FBI is pursuing the vastly greater number of crooked Republicans with equal vigor though.
