“Two of the world’s major curses,” he wrote, “are engineers that want to screw around with the environment, and ‘environmental entrepreneurs.’ It would perhaps be more helpful if they employed their energies to mitigating past and ongoing disasters, rather than creating new ones.”

Ahh.. doesn't this just sum up the mentality of GW researchers.. It's NOT REALLY ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING, but about eliminating any human influence that exacerbates it.

Because to them, if the earth decides to warm up DESPITE all of our efforts to reduce OUR production of CO2 and CH4.. Well.. then, THAT'S OKAY!!

And WHAT IF we all eliminate our human derived GHG production completely, and the earth's temperature NATURALLY continues to climb to the point where the oceans warm and HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF TONNES of Methane Hydrates melt and percolate (gusher?) into the atmosphere??

Well.. that's alright too.. At least it wasn't the fault of Mankind and we have no right to interfere with the earth's natural processes...

That's the crux of what all of these people are REALLY SAYING, isn't it??

It's NOT REALLY ABOUT MAINTAINING CURRENT LEVELS OR REDUCING THEM TO LEVELS OF 100 OR 200 YEARS AGO, it's about Luddism and Malthusian ideology.

Or maybe it's REALLY ABOUT what would happen to the hundreds of millions in Research funding that would disappear (as well as the bully pulpits for these researchers) if such a simple and cost-effective solution were experimented with.

"Well, Dr. so and so.. we have a solution we're pursuing that we can turn on and off at will, so we don't see any further need to fund your research"..

And isn't that the beauty of fertilizing the oceans with iron to promote phytoplankton (that already exist but lack this vital nutrient)?? If we go too far, or there are adverse and unexpected negative reactions then we can just stop the fertilization process and return to the previous status quo.
