<That is a variation on the anthropic principle.>

""the anthropic principle in its most basic form states the truism that any valid theory of the universe must be consistent with our existence as carbon-based human beings at this particular time and place in the universe.""

Well, I guess so... although I'm not saying we 'need' meaning to exist... we "seemed" to have evolved that way... but perhaps it's all an illusion.

<but if humans were to go extict, would that mean that the meaning was wrong or that it wasn't a true meaning because it didn't endure?>

..nor did I say that meaning would disappear because we did... meaning (consciousness, awareness) could be everywhere and we've simply evolved to the point where we can discern it.?

BTW, we could just as easily be talking about 'intelligence','consciousness', or 'awareness', no?

OTOH, perhaps I suppose should restate that and say that the universe answers the question "does man think there is meaning in the universe" since man has assigned meaning to things... since it's all just my perception. That's why I keep saying to Solon "JMO!!". LOL

Of course the opposite belief (to state there is no meaning) and everything in between comes up looking the same.

Is it not simply the age old question?? Not likely to be answered here.
