Funny, we talked about that too...I said that since the gun wasn't loaded, but the bad guy didn't know that and tried to shoot it, giving Jack the chance to shoot him back....An analogy is similar to what is going on today... Should we try to protect ourselves, or sing kumbalaaaah, and when whine and cry later after another 9-11 or worse happens....? One of our neighbors came in the other night for a visit...she is Jewish, and VERY anti-war.... At the end of the discussion, I said I wondered what she would do if: Iran shot a nuke into Israel and destroyed Israel and all the people in the area..... She was silent. Then said she was putting her (imaginary) 'shield back up' so that only good things could come through. I asked her before she could block it: Well, do you think the US should get out of the treaty with Israel before that happens? Silence... Shield up. Back to weather, doggies, books, and fun and games. Some things are most unpleasant, and heaven forbid we should talk about them in advance of the actual happening, to try to prevent the happening.
