Pragmatist my left foot...ok where is Bush's pragmatic solution to environment? What has he done over the past 6 years?

Obviously it's not the same proposal that I'm suggesting, and that saddens me.

But Bush is no different than any previous administration.

All of them know how difficult it is to have people accept the fact that we have to alter out behaviors.. Neither Clinton, or Gore, had much success with it either.

That's why I would suggest that we proposed the Oceanic "fertilization" program as something that benefits whales and other marine life, with a goal of promoting the re-stocking of depleting fish-stocks.

The side benefit, we could say.. is that the phytoplankton would also sequestor huge quantities of GHG in the process.

90% of the world oxygen is produced by oceanic flora and messing that up can kill all life on earth. So I am afraid I am not interested in "pragmatic-stop-gap" solutions; I want the correct and low risk solution.

Stop your silliness... If you were here in front of me I'd almost feel compelled to slap you out of your hysterical fear-mongering blather...

We know that the phytoplankton ALREADY exist in dormancy, awaiting the necessary nutrients to either be swept into the sea from exposed deposits on shore. There is HISTORICAL EVIDENCE THAT THIS HAS ALREADY HAPPENED, YET THE WORLD IS STILL HERE!!!

It's like brewing coffee.. So long as I provide heat to the coffee pot, it brews. But if it clogs up and overflows (as actually happened to me this morning.. aargh), then we turn the heat off and we return to the previous status quo.

There is NO DANGER of phytoplankton reproduction turning into a "critical mass" that becomes self-sustaining. Stop fertilizing, and the growth stops. That's basic physics.

And it's not like we're creating some kind of genetically engineered lifeform.. As I said.. the phytoplankton ALREADY EXISTS!! It's CRITICAL to the oceanic food chain. The loss of phytoplankton in the ocean may be responsible for the depleting numbers of fish.. .. and I'm a man who likes his Sushi..

So straighten up.. regain your composure and try and think logically...

And one more thing.. whether you like me or not should be irrelevant. I didn't come up with this idea of oceanic fertilization.. I'm just the messenger. You don't need to give me credit for turning you on to the idea. Just explore it, analyze it, and look at the cost/benefits and potential positive and negative side-effects.

So if you want to hate me, that's fine. But if you're going to completely ignored a VERY VIABLE solution to GW because of your hate, or because you think that pragmatic moderates (or even conservatives) aren't capable of coming up with viable solutions to GW, then you're far from being objective.

We're talking maybe $100 Billion to make a MAJOR IMPACT on Global Warming NOW!!! Even if it's just a band-aid until we can get the world to revise its thinking and wean itself off of Fossil Fuels, it seems to me that it's worth a try..

If it doesn't work then halt the program. Sounds pretty simple to me..
