I remember when I was in the fifth grade (1959), someone remarked that Elvis Presley earned a million dollars a year. The teacher replied that he wouldn't want to make a million dollars a year, because the government took over 90% in taxes.

was a jolt to me. The top 20% earns 60% of the income and pays 72% of Federal taxes.

I wonder how much tax policy has contributed to the public debt, inflation, and the fall of the dollar.
