No, skepticism is a healthy part of science or any profession. What is not healthy is when the debate is occuring in peer-reviewed scientific journals and trained scientists have overwhelmingly come to a conclusion and a know nothing "skeptic" still claims that there is a huge debate going on when there is not. A similiar situation is occuring in the whole evolution vs. intelligent design debate, real trained scientists with overwhelming consensus vs. a very narrow and small minority of indealogically bent scientists pushing their view that is not supported by evidence.
