Well, it happened a few years later anyway. Don't you think earlier would have been better? Well, we all know that all kinds of human tragedies occur because of "greater priorities". And hindsight is always 20/20.. Personally, I think one of the biggest mistakes was to place an Arab King in charge of Trans-Jordan. If they were going to create a Jewish and Palestinian partition, a greater portion of the Hashemite kingdom should have been provided.. Not that it would have truly made any difference probably. The Arabs living in that state, to my understanding, really didn't identify themselves as "Palestinians" until Arafat came upon the scene. Aside from geographical location, I have yet to hear anyone tell me how to differentiate a "Palestinian" from a Lebanese, a Syrian, Saudi, or an Iraqi. Hawk

Well, it happened a few years later anyway. Don't you think earlier would have been better? No, the 6 million were dead by then. About 300,000 survivors from Europe and 800,000 Jews who were deported from the Arab Lands wound up in Israel. After they won the War of Independence, when 5 Arab armies invaded & tried to destroy them. Of course it would have been better if the British had let them come to Palestine rather than get killed. But it wasn't the British who killed them.
