Yep, plus we would pick up taxes on the "underground" economy which is estimated by some to be as much as 10% of GNP. jdn

I have yet to be convinced that it would work and there would be a lot of dislocation at inception as prices went up 30??? something percent across the board. I think its something that needs phasing in as IT is phased out--some combo of flat tax and consumption either interim or as final solution.
