ROTFL - The US government spends trust fund moneys in off budget expenditures and calls the budget balanced. What is up with people who say that domestic production cannot solve all of our problem, so why bother? Neither can wind or solar. Should we follow the advice of these people and refuse to invest in any technology that cannot solve 100% of our energy needs in the immediate term? Right now, due to the way oil companies are forced to report profits, they have higher profits to shield from taxation. Any realistic investments in new reserves would be met with domestic explorers eager to invest.
