I never agreed with Vietnam. Johnson at least had the grace to not run again because of that massive blunder. In the plus column, Johnson moved civil rights legislation forward that never would have passed without him, just one of many accomplishments during his term. It cost the Dems "the solid south" and the Dixiecrats from then on, but it was the RIGHT thing to do. The successes and support he garnered NASA at the time culminated in putting a man on the moon within the deadline set by Kennedy. The chimp Caesar has no such balancing accomplishments. Nada, zip, nothing. Just a record of serial failure and incompetence, including his OWN mistaken quagmire war, the totals for which haven't been counted yet.

Bush is worse than LBJ, though LBJ was pretty bad. Both started wars based on lies, both making Halliburton rich in the process, and both badly mismanaged those wars. But LBJ did not crack down on civil liberties, did not encourage massive corruption in government, did not divide the nation with phony wedge issues, did not spend a third of his time on vacation, even while New Orleans was flooding. This is no defense of LBJ, just showing you various ways Bush is a bit worse. actually they have a lot in common. And these days LBJ would be a Republican.
