Well, I'm sorry but I have to correct you on the flora/fauna thing. There is almost nothing in common between the two countries. Oz is mainly eucalypts - none here. Possums are protected in Oz, but here they are a terrible pest, because while eucalypts are full of defensive toxins, the trees here are almost all good to eat, and the possums are munching their way through them. Why is this? Because NZ had no mammals - well, a couple of bats. Also NZ has no snakes, while Oz has about 8 of the top 10 most poisonous. NZ has no marsupials. Oz has many poisonous spiders and insects, .. the list goes on. This is the land of the long white cloud, so called because of the rain clouds that generally hang over the land. Oz is mainly desert.

Really all we have in common is our cultural backgrounds, which are almost identical (on the British side, anyway). NZers love to hate Ozzies, but really we are very similar, NZers a bit more reserved (inhibited?).
