If semantics is your issue, trust me when I tell you that if Europe opens its floodgates to allow as many legal immigrants as the US does, European too will be wanting assimilation to the European way of life from those groups. Remember we are ahead of Europeans in almost every aspect of race, ethnicity and incorporation of different groups into the dominant society. Europe's present issues and problems with race and immigration make that very clear. In fact, Europe's current headlines sound like those from the US's past.
