what is that supposed to mean. if a few act out then we should have not soldiers defend our country?

All wars we have a some soldiers who act out of anger , hurt , frustration. It doesn't make the purpose of going to war to defend the country an act that shouldn't take place.

if these terrible things happen they will be punished.

I know what its like to be in a fire fight. I know what its like to lose a buddy. I know what its like to not trust a single human outside of your group. I know how those emotions can bubble over. I also know Marine Corps discipline. Maybe if a private did something like this I could accept it, but lead by a Staff Sgt. No way, Jose.
I also know what its like to come home and be spit at and called awful names by young PUNKS I could have killed with a flick of my wrist. Those same PUNKS I fought for so they could be PUNKS. I know what its like to have more respect for my enemy then those PUNKS. Just be thankful Marines are disciplined or there would have been BLOODSHED on the homefront when we came home and were SHIT ON. jdn
