Kerry's combat heroism was real and is well-documented. In fact, his CO at the time thought about reprimanding him for being TOO courageous. Kerry began the practice of charging INTO enemy fire rather than running away from it. It turned out to be very successful,though very hairy, and one by one the other SWiftboat skippers started doing the same thing, the ones who dared. This made a large positive impact. The smearvets have lied about every aspect of Kerry's military record, including his most heroic exploit for which he won the Silver Star. Smearvets knowingly lied when they claimed Kerry killed an "unarmed teenager". The ABC crew that went to the same village and inquired found out what the smearvets already knew, because they had been to the village two and didn't like what they heard so they just lied. ABC found that Kerry has chased down and killed a VC regular age 23 armed with a B-40 rocket-launcher which he was trying to blow up Kerry's boat with. Kerry saved his entire boat on this occasion and rightfully was awarded the Silver Star. meanwhile not a single major rightwing leader has ever dared steop foot on a battlefield. Bush-Cheney-Delay all dodged the draft using family connections.

Why did the smearvets lie? How could any self-respecting vets tell so many bald-faced lies about a fellow vet and be able to live with themselves ever again? The answer is two-fold: Money and rightwing extremist hatred. Some who lied were paid for it. Thurlow admitted on TV getting a home from smear campaign funder Bob Perry of Perry Homes, a close crony of Delay's. Perry was later reimbursed 26 million by the phony charity the delay Foundation, a corporate slush fund Delay kept for various unethical purposes. Some have been rightwing operatives for decades. John O'Neill worked with Nixon's dirty trickster Charles Colson who was jailed soon afterward. Colson later had a prison conversion and apologized to those he had smeared, including war and peace hero John Kerry. Some are virulent racist bigots. Jerome Corsi was caught blogging KKK type bigoted slurs on the internet. Corsi and O'Neill also made millions off their mendacious piece of political porno of a book which many far rightwingers bought. But one thing they all have in common is they LIED LIED LIED with straight faces. And for the good of who, two draft-dodgers Bush-Cheney? For the good of the 20,000+ US troops killed or wounded in Iraq? for the good of vets whose benefits Bushies have desperately been trying to slash? This only proves that Bushies cannot be trusted. Ever again. On any level.
