Rosa Brooks:
The wailing and gnashing of teeth is getting louder as the US standard of living declines. Rosa will next blame Bush for the demand coming from China and India. After all, China would still be in the dark ages if those dirty Republicans hadn't sent Nixon to open her up.

I am no fan of Bush as he has no vision. He should have seen the oil situation coming and got out ahead of this with the public, but instead focused on spending more to help Republicans be reelected. Nothing changes in Washington as that was the tactic developed by the Democrats to keep power in Congress for 60 years.

When the Democratic Congress and President comes in and the standard of living continues to decline, then you will see the turmoil now as comparable to a spat at a birthday party.

The important thing to understand is that the US is entering decline and there is nothing you or I can do about it. It's every man for himself with capital controls looming.

What is amazing as how the administration apologists continue to keep their hands over their eyes as they try to blame everybody but the idiots who are destroying our economy.

The cost of oil is driven to some extent by the fact that an unnecessary and unpopular war has taken the third largest producer of oil offline.

Clinton's fault obviously.

That reduction in supply has allowed the other "Friends of George" in the region to artificially inflate the price of what they produce.

Since the Saudis are running out they welcomed the opportunity to use the Bush Doctrine to gouge everybody on what they have left.

And of course the wisdom with which the idiots running the parade are dealing with other major producers like Venezuela, Mexico and even Canada will also translate to pain at the pump.

But hey, the little fool is doing his best (to beef up his secret Saudi bank accounts).
