But that position intrinsically assumes that the individual assimilating the information has enough knowledge and historical reference points based on testable fact. If so, it then further assumes that said individual can then discern between that which is likely to be true, that which is propaganda, and that which is pure, unadulterated balderdash! Part of the perception of what is true or not will be colored by the individual's like and dislikes, penchant for a certain viewpoint, ability to maintain discriminating and skeptical judgment, etc. Entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem. A very finely balanced Occam's razor.
