Look at the MSNBC crash test in the link provided, and read FAQ #8. Seems reasonably safe for a miniature size car. The big downside is parts/service availability. The cost by the ZAP importer, in conversion to US auto standards is also high. One day, when our fuel costs are equivalent to European prices (and that day will come!) we will see a number of these miniaturized cars built to US specs, and in the $10K range. There were zillions of them in Italy, only exceeded by people dressed in business clothes driving scooters to work (talk about safety!).
