Kerry didn't have the evidence then that he has now. He wishes he had been ready with it, but he was only ready to defend his anti-war stance in 1971. He rightly believed his combat heroism was unquestionable. But that didn't stop the smear jockeys from making up 40-50 lies, same way they did with McCain. Ridiculous lies and rightwing media spread like wildfire. By the time they were all disproven the election was over.

Exactly.
I would have voted for Dean before kerry because I knew where Dean stood on the issues. No one really knows where kerry stands on any issue since he has taken so many differing positions based upon his idea what people wants to hear.

I guarantee you a lot of people in the south could care less what kerry thinks we want to hear....
