Doug:

That will not be more than AMD's output at that time. 33% of less than 70% is about 20% which will be smaller than the over 30% of unit share AMD will have at that time. And with QC K8L in the wings, Conroe won't even make those targets of 1/3. If it does is because the market won't buy P4s and Yonahs.

K8L will do to NGA what you think NGA is doing to K8. There are a few potholes to your thoughts of Conroe smooth sailing.

First is HTX coprocessors. Second is higher speed/lower latency DDR. Third is HT 3,0. Fourth is K8L, both the DC and QC flavors. Fifth is SPEC CPU2006. By pushing memory requirements to 4GB (no workstation owner will settle for less) and working set sizes beyond 128MB, the large cache sizes of NGA will become far less effective. It may be that NGA goes below K8F in SPECint2006, SPECfp2006 and the two rate versions.

Doug

if it is 30% exiting the year then estimate the average rate
clue - it is not much

-AK

ps BTW was it 30% shipped or in production - big difference
