Why Ruby was there is a mystery. He was a 2nd level mob nightclub boss. Hoover and the mob were both under seige from the Kennedys. They had reason to collude. But would this be enough for Ruby to basically give his life? Or maybe Ruby was lied to and set up, promised immunity or something if he hit Oswald. There seems to be no clear motive why Ruby killed him, nor any motive for why the cops marched Oswald out unprotected like that. Obviously, the fix was in. This was no lone nut job, it was a very powerful network running an orchestrated show complete with coverups and killing witnesses.
