A few things have leaked out: AMD is shipping 2.4ghz X2s at 65W amdcompare.com And 2ghz X2s at 35W amdcompare.com These are 90nm parts and they seem to be pretty low volume - a lot like INTC's future 65nm 2.66 parts. Keep in mind that even though we're talking future Intel parts, even though they're using SiGe, Intel Conroe is burning 85W to get to 2.93ghz. INTC couldn't come close to competing with AMD at 90nm. INTC expects to see a big drop in power use plus an increase in performance when they went to SiGe at 65nm. AMD will be shipping similar 64-bit SiGe parts at 65nm about a quarter later than Intel - why, Doug, are you not expecting that AMD will see similar gains? The move to copper was big boost to both AMD and Intel - why should the move to SiGe boost Intel but not AMD?

Doug: QC K8L in roadmapped for 2008 right now K8L is roadmapped by AMD in Q1 of 2007. The statements of a rumour site is very unlikely given statements direct from AMD. Its Intel that won't have QC until 2008. Four cores on a FSB is a disaster by all testing done so far. AMD won't have 30% unit share at that time. Why? P4 is unsaleable with K8F and NGA by your comments. Ditto with Yonah/Dothan against Turion, X2 (K8F) and NGA taking your comments into the mobile space. Ditto with Dempsey, Paxville and all other P4 based Xeons wrt K8E, K8F and Woodcrest. Intel's problem is they are Osbourning 2/3rds of their production. AMD had 25% unit share at the beginning of the year and its growing by all accounts. Who knows, they may already have 30% unit share right now. "It may be that NGA goes below K8F in SPECint2006, SPECfp2006 and the two rate versions." K8F? Yes K8F. The much larger working sets in SPEC CPU2006 will require NGA to go to memory where it has less BW and more latency than K8F. NGA already is below K8E in SPECfp2000rate. Pete BTW there is a rumor that SPEC CPU2006 will require larger data and working sets for higher scores ala TPC-C.
