i only look at it as an investment. been spending two weeks looking at tankless hot water heater vs replace existing propane tank. very expensive up front cost however saving on INVESTMENT G , can be great even for two old people and no kids. plus $300 tax credit.

It is for me.I'm in the middle of the process. I figure it will pay for itself in 3-4 years.
After that, no more electric bills,except for whatever I need to pay for being hooked to the grid. That includes about $4000 in Cal rebates and a 2K tax credit.
Right now, in California, we don't get paid if the meter goes below zero. When we start that again, I'll pay another several hundred dollars for a time of use meter. You get paid (or pay) 3x as much for power during peak hours (1000-1888) than for off peak.
