Some months ago, an AMD salesman publicly stated that they would be 100%converted to 65nm by mid 2007. This was at a side session as a Microsoft VS 2006 launch. Maybe "100%" was really "substantially", but the point was they would be well over 50% (say >70%) converted to 65nm by mid 2007.

They also indicated they would have some 65nm production started by mid 2006.

At the time, I thought this was later than I was expecting.

If first products in 65nm are now expected in Dec. 2006 (at the earliest), then I think it is fair to conclude that not everything went AMD's way in Dresden.

We ought to know more on June 1.

If we don't hear info on 65nm, "No news is good news" doesn't apply.

P.S. I posted these points several months ago. You can search for "Magrathea" and "rocket science" to find it.

Authority? I believe I said the post was "interesting", and fit with 2 other bits of information/rumor: the Dec06 shipment date for AMD 65nm (rather later than originally planned), and Inq comments.
