AMD Advanced Micro May misses - Stifel (31.63 ) -Update-

Stifel believes that AMD's 2Q is tracking below the consensus of $1.3 bln for revs and $0.30 for EPS. Firm believes that INTL's aggressive pricing and softer PC market will likely leave the co a little light on both sales and gross margins. Although firm expects co will continue to take market share over the long term, they believe INTL's new products and pricing strategy will be more successful than generally anticipated and this reversal of momentum will constrain AMD's shares through at least the end of the year.

Re: INTC's volumes have picked up in May. They say these volumes appear to be driven by very aggressive pricing.

Not surprising with Boxed Retail Pentium 4 now below $100 and the new Dual Core Pentium D parts going for as little as $140.

It's shaping up to be a heck of a price war this year - great time to be buying a new PC!
