What outcomes would you call "very bad" or "catastrophic" in this context. I'm trying to get a bead on where the thresholds might be.

Apparently, you either see too much or not focused enough.

I see useless, unfocused worry. And I see expectations for huge investments in vague activities that may or may not be solutions. All of which breeds the kind of backlash that is coming from the skeptics, not that they wouldn't lash back anyway, but the global warming guys are just feeding the backlash, seems to me, when they focus on drumming up more worry. That's not only useless, that's counter-productive. I'm not particularly worried so I can be mellow about the lack of progress, but if I were hyper worried, I'd be really mad at my alleged leadership.
