I am afraid that one morning many people will wake up stunned, wondering what has happened. They will be frozen, shocked that the "housing prosperity" of 03-06 was just a mirage. They will have no job to go to, no way to pay their bills, no way to afford consumer goods, no way to pay off their debt or even access the cash in their bank account. They will read about gold soaring $100 in a single day, but they will have no money and there will be no outlet to buy any.
