PWT @ 1.35 :)

Today did day trade on the short side in BLK and other adjustments to short US stock positions. Up just over 9% for the year at this point it seems. MSCI benchmark (Developed World Gross) is up 6.1%.

> Liquidity being pulled out worldwide -

Roger Nightingale was just on Bloomberg saying that Bank of Japan was pulling liquidity away, Trichet in the EU is raising interest rates, Big Ben in the US is talking about continuing to raise interest rates. So central banks worldwide are pulling out liquidity, for whatever reasons - possibly to contain various assets bubbles - real estate & commodities being examples.

Roger says the central banks will back off when they get scared of the carnage in the stock markets, and/or they get the recession thay want. Seemed to indicate that could be a few more weeks, which is a long way down.

He also pointed out there was a lack of buying, and it is not related to the actual condition of the economies or profits, or future profits.

Roger recommneds CASH and possibly puts if you want to make money.

******

I expect parabolic run ups like $3.50 then $4.00 copper, which is detached from real industrial supply and demand (meaning hedge funds did it) were part of what has convinced the central banks to take away the punch bowl....

I think he is right, and I think I will be cutting back, not just trimming. Yes, I may miss the upward move, but this downward slide is a killer.
