All of the hypotheticals don't seem to answer the question...IS Congress immune to regular civil laws??? Or are they immune to all laws, even those that prohibit bribery, rape, and/or murder...??? Is there a line drawn? If so, where?

Again, I asked:

If a search warrant, signed by an appropriate Judge, is issued, wouldn't that be enough to conduct a search to look for specific information related to a potential bribe situation?

For if you suffer your people to be ill-educated, and their manners to be corrupted from their infancy, and then punish them for those crimes to which their first education disposed them, what else is to be concluded from this, but that you first make thieves and then punish them.
Sir Thomas More (1478 - 1535), Utopia, Book 1

Half the "experts" say it was a travesty, half say it was perfectly fine. Just another day in wonderland.

Off topic: ~ A Man for All Seasons

This is without question my favorite movie of all time. Beautifully photographed and not a spare word of dialogue in the entire film, imbued with a sense of moral goodness and strength that can be felt to the bones. More was truly a man for all seasons.
