Kerry is not going to take a backseat to Gore or Hillary or anyone else. Still he knows he's got to earn it all over again. This is probably why he's now trying to clear away the smearvets garbage and debris, admitting he wished he'd been prepared to do that in the midst of the campaign. But Gore also made mistakes in 2000, some very big ones in fact. And Hillary has made mistakes too.

I now see Kerry wasn't prepared for that big an avalanche of lies from the Bushies. He was prepared to defend his anti-war activity and 1971 testimony, but not to prove he deserved all his medals or disprove such ridiculous lies the rightwing spread. He couldn't believe anyone would have the gall to try and lie about that stuff. But if he saw what they did to McCain in 2000, he should have expected it.

Bushies have no shame. They will lie about anything, even the sun coming up in the morning.
