That will no doubt be further proof that the Earth is heading for catastrophic warming. As the glaciers creep into La Jolla, climate change doomsters will gnash their teeth and explain how the heating is causing the cold and snow.

What happens is the excessively hot ocean evaporates a LOT more moisture, which is blown up and over Mammoth Mountain, precipitates out as huge amounts of snow, which reflects sun from the mountain, and provides a LOT of cooling of air which sinks down the mountain cooling the lower areas, keeping the snow in position.
