yep, 911 did give us reason to reform the middle east. Waging that war in Iraq wont get us that. I think what we are displaying there is closer to a country that can not garner enough soldiers to accomplish the above stated mission in one country let alone an entire region. Its not that we don't have the resources, we just can't get them to sign up and put boots on the ground.

And the reasons given for invading Iraq had little if anything to do with cooperating with UN resolutions. That reason more or less falls into the "we have this to fall back on" category

How soon we forget.....we are in Iraq because they had WMD...

Go back and review Bush's daily speeches and watch him interchange the words WMD and 911. No mention of UN until "misson accomplished".
