Kerry was on the Senate Sub-Committee On Terrorism, Narcotics And International Organized Crime (sp?). He led the senate prosecution of BCCI, the Medellin Carpen and Iran-Contra (another reason the far right ultra-hawk community hates and fears him). After he nailed them, he wrote a book called "The New War" about the new danger of international mafias and proliferation of stolen WMD. That was about ten years before Al Qaida, but it was related.
