"Being on the board of a company doesn't mean that her husband as president or she as senator did anything Walmart wanted."

No, of course not. It only means that she was a part of the organization that set WalMart policy. That's all. God, you're dumb.

Being on the board of a company doesn't mean that her husband as president or she as senator did anything Walmart wanted.

I would hope not. I suspect that while he was governor of Arkansas, Bill Clinton performed the occasional favor for the state's largest employer.

The Clintons also benefited financially from Wal-Mart. Hillary Clinton was paid $18,000 each year she served on the board, plus $1,500 for each meeting she attended. By 1993 she had accumulated at least $100,000 in Wal-Mart stock, according to Bill Clinton's federal financial disclosure that year. The Clintons also flew for free on Wal-Mart corporate planes 14 times in 1990 and 1991 in preparation for Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential bid.

Even though Sam Walton was a Republican, the company was not very politically active until about six or seven years ago. They didn't even have a lobbying office in Washington. Their contributions probably tilt slightly toward the GOP, though they make sure that their money gets widely distributed. You may recall that earlier this spring they hired Andrew Young to pimp for the company.

Arguably, Wal-Mart is probably the most efficient logistics company in the world. Maybe we should hire them to manage our ports.
