hs2,

Moderation is mostly OK, but some individuals post way too many messages, particularly when they flame out for some reason or another (ie eracer, gzubeck, doug, sarmad, etc.) I think quality would improve if there were a max of 30 messages per individual on a given day.

The volume of messages can be high, but I think I am one of the culprits sometimes, so I am not going to advocate some "do as I say, not as I do" type of thing. And there are busy days, such as earnings or analyst meetings when I don't mind the volume.

Joe

" think quality would improve if there were a max of 30 messages per individual on a given day." Quality would probably improve for the most part, but for my 2bits the free flow of information is worth the (sometimes annoying) price. Maybe ephuds 31'st message of the day .."Paul Otellini convicted of molesting under age goats" would get lost in the rules.

Why am I on that list? There have only been 2 days out of my 1371 days at SI that I posted more than 30 messages in a day.

Use the ignore feature and stop whining.

Actually a system that permits assigning a moderation mark (thumb up/down) by registered readers would do just fine.

Let everyone filter by that based on a poster's track record (neutral or better, 25% or better etc) and the community will self-regulate just fine.

I'd be happier if the limit were 10 or 15 per board per day.

IE a user might be able to post unlimited times on SI as a whole but be limited to 15 posts a day on the AMD thread.
