Yeah, Reagan did it in the 80's.

At the time it didn't seem a bad policy and only one currency (the Yen) was giving us major problems. The Japanese went along with it (they weren't crazy about it) but they accepted it and that's why today we have so many Americans working for Japanese auto manufacturers in the U.S.

The situation is a bit different today and just dumping the dollar could have more severe consequences than it did back then. (that's just my opinion)

We could see inflationary pressures that we are not accustomed to and much less flexibility in dealing those pressures.

I don't like the way things are going.
