What I don't get are why so many ordinary non-millionaires are so jacked up about it.

Maybe you'd see their perspective if you didn't have you head so far up your @ss...

1. Because they were ALREADY TAXED on their income once, and taxed on their property each and every year they owned it. Why should they be TAXED AGAIN for having made good investments, or been a prolific saver?

It's the same logic against the Capital Gains tax. I paid my income tax once. So why should I be taxed AGAIN if I invest that money wisely in an instrument or property that increases in demand, and consequently, in value??

I would personally accept higher income taxes in exchange for ZERO capital gains tax. But then again, I'm trading stocks for a living now.. ;0)

2. Many of them are farmers. And farmers want to bequeath the family farm to their children.

3. What we are able to leave to our children is a physical representation of what we accomplished and accumulated during our lives. Why should government get a cut of that as well??

Leave it to the serf-wannabe Hawk (more like chicken on a bun) to defend the 'rights' of Lay and Skilling et al to keep whatever they can haul in and keep.

Hawk and other immoral rightwingers desperately cling to the fiction of a dog-eat-dog world instead of a world where the intelligent and thoughtful make life better for all people. Curiously, Hawk refuses to go back to Iraq which is as close to unbridled capitalism as things come.

Why is that?

Why do supposed capitalists like Hawk refuse to go where capitalism is running amuck through the streets? Cowardice? Perhaps maybe yellow-bellied cowardice keeps Hawk in the socialism of the US of A (we have the USPS for goodness sakes and public education and medicare oh my!) instead of in the unfettered capitalism of Iraq?

I don't know why Maurice isn't in Iraq either since he's so desperate to live in unfettered capitalism.

Rightwingers are such cowards. They mouth off and then they act like Dubyette in the National Guard.
