How do you explain that Japan and Germany do not have significant energy policies that differentiate them from the rest of the world, and have no natural resources, and for them energy policy is not the #1 concern?

If we weren't a country addicted to oil, our economy would not be subject to the whims of oil prices, our national security would not be at risk forcing us to spend $400B a year on defense and $100B a year on wars like Iraq, and our environment would be much cleaner.

Ha ha!
1- Economy: The US economy is going gangbusters despite oil prices.
2- Security: National security is not at risk due to oil prices. Islamists dislike the US due to our support for Israel, not due to our desire to purchase oil from them at ever increasing prices! Seems you've read to much misleading Fowler on this subject....
3- Environment: Sure, all else being equal it would be cleaner if we consumed less oil.

Not bad, you got one out of three correct in the issue you deem the #1 priority for the USA.
