"Is socket F to be revealed today?"

Maybe. Or maybe it is a new socket that isn't socketF. It seems to be trying to say, in its confused manner, that it is a MCM with two dual core chips on it, maybe with all 4 memory controllers. Hence the "4x4" designation.

Not so sure this would be a killer game machine, but it certainly would be killer server. An 8 core, two socket server would go a long way towards locking the server market up for AMD.

Re: the new socket would ship in the second half of 2006 and target the high-end gamer segment

Few games use both cores now and even fewer use both cores well. A $315 2.4GHz Conroe will likely beat TWO $1000 rev. F/G 2.8GHz Athlon 64 FX CPUs in a vast majority of games. There are many other situations where 4 cores would be convenient though. Hopefully all AM2 CPUs will be able to use this socket rather than just Athlon 64 FX. It will also be interesting to see if both CPUs have direct access to system memory, or if this will be like some of the old, cheap dual-Opteron boards where only one CPU had direct access to main memory and the other didn't.
