I would have thought that it was true, as a general proposition, that a hotter Atlantic would cause more Atlantic hurricanes.

That is, until I read further, and saw that a hotter Pacific and a hotter Sahel desert would cause fewer Atlantic hurricanes.

And we still don't know what causes them to form in the first place.

usually its assume if temperature of water warmer then we get more storms this summer and fall. don't they watch the gulf stream etc and then based on history assume.
