The Swiftvets are men with names and histories, and none of them have histories as partisan activists.

Like O'Neill for example.

One was the gunner on his boat.

Yeah? but the rest of his crew went to the convention to stand with him. The "one gunner" was the one that Kerry reprimanded for shooting an innocent civilian in a small boat right?

>>They all served with Kerry - in the same division. One was the gunner on his boat. They did not have strong ties to the Bush campaign. They merely took some money from Republicans. <<

Nadine -

They were financed to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars by people whose vested interests demanded that Kerry be defeated by any means. Their leader, O'Neill, was a close associate of George Bush when the latter was the governor of Texas. It's an ad hominem attack to point that out? Give me a break.

How many of them there were is completely irrelevant to any question of their veracity. The people closest to Kerry, the crew on the actual boat, with the exception of one disgruntled gunner, sided with him.

But again, this whole argument is largely irrelevant now.

Nadine, all smearvets claims are baseless 100% lies.

None of the smearvets served with Kerry. The gunner Gardner (who came in later, recruited by Rush Limbaugh) was the only one who had any experience on Kerry's boat, but not in any of the cases which the smearvets were lying about. That man Gardner, who suffers from severe mental problems, committed an atrocity despite Kerry's orders for him to cease fire. Gardner killed some civilioans and Kerry almost had him court martialed for it. That's why Gardner is so messed up and eager to say nasty lies about Kerry.

Other than Gardner, who was not one of the original smearvets, not a single one of them got within 50 yards of Kerry in battle. O'Neill and Corsi never even met Kerry in Nam, and O'Neill only once in his life in a TV studio.

All the eyewitnesses to the events in question side with Kerry. 100% of his boat crew. 100% of Vietnamese villagers. Not a single eyewitness with any credibility has said a single negative thing about Kerry except that doctor who said Kerry's one wound was "just a scratch". But Kerry just released a photo taken four days later with a heavy bandage on his arm, so it wasn't a "bandaid" it was a full-sized wraparound bandage. Besides soldiers dont give themselves Purple hearts, the military does that.

Furthermore, one of the original smearvets (can't recall his name) now sides with Kerry, admitting that the SWiftVets for Truth turned out to be an extremist rightwing smear group just mamking up lies. That's from the mouth of one of the original members. He was duped into joining then realized the truth and was horrified. You should be too, and you owe war hero John Kerry, and all US war heros, an apology for perpetrating smear campaigns against one of their number. Also remember, a similar smear campaign was waged by Bush-Rove against McCain in 2000, just as dastardly and 100% false.
