After all, if the US that is offering Iraqis a shining democracy, liberty, and is spending hundereds of billions of dollars, then what does Sadr offer them? >> I have been predicting for a couple of years The person who properly predicted where Sadr's was headed was the Canuck here whose name escapes me now. Back in 2003 when US had surrounded Karbala and was engaged in hunting Sadr on some "judge"'s order, Neocon's as usual claimed victory because they said they killed a lot of Sadr's Mahdi Army. Our good friend was the one told them how Sadr made far greater political gains than any casualties and was headed for national politics...he also predicted that Sistani would never meet with the Americans because in Iraq Yanks just smell too bad, and boy was he right on both counts! >> Even when they lay down their arms, Al-Sadr maintains their right to continued existence. Do you listen to yourself? What is it about the "right" that just makes them so blind to reality...where do you get such expectations from? Why do you even desire them? >> He is supported by the Mullahs and is unopposed in that declaration from other entities. This is simply not true. It is more accurate to say as one of the main characters on Iraqi stage, Iran has found it prudent to not offend Sadr. >> Even the Sunni spokespersons who hate him personally are not willing to denounce the ideology of the Mehdi Army. Again, you can show off your grey cells if you can figure out why this is. It really isn't that complecated. >> Al-Sadr is also known to be maintaining a complete shadow government in the private sector that is supported by people in legitimate governmental positions. This is true for virtually every major political party in the world. It is just more explicit for Iraqi parties (all of them and not just Sadr's).
