Dear Joe:

Another way to have 8 sockets in a 19" rack MB is to put sockets on both sides of the main board. Granted most of the sockets both CPU and DIMM would have to be mostly surface mounted, but that could be done. It'd be hard to fit into a 1U chassis. 2 or 3U more likely and that would be good for attached HD/CD/DVD drives too.
