But the CPUs are. One Conroe 2.67GHz = $530, one Conroe XE = $1000,
two Athlon 64 FX = $2000. High-end gaming systems that have two
(or four) hot video cards will already facing power and heat
issues. Two Athlon 64 FX CPUs each pumping out as much heat and
using as much power as a PEE965 are not going to be attractive to
most gamers.


You make the false assumption, that AMD will not change their
price-level accordingly. Why not drop the FX to say 700$, but
instead sell 2 at that price? Net gain 400$. Even If you
assume that only 1 in 4 FX-Buyers fill their new boards at
once with two processors, this would deny Intel a lot of
high-margin revenue.

FX-60 is $863. When 62 comes out, 60 will drop to ~$600. /Petz
